Maximo Manzette will be arraigned Wednesday for murder, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. Authorities did not release the pedestrian's name or age.

Police said Manzette was behind the wheel of a car as it hit the pedestrian walking near the intersection of Centre Street near the intersection of Columbus Avenue around 4:40 a.m. Investigators believe that Manzette "was aware of the victim's presence" before crashing into them, the prosecutors said.

Officers closed off several roads in that area for hours as investigators went over the scene. They reopened them around 10 a.m., police said
